A few days ago I received some feedback from a client.lawrence jones mbe

This is nothing new, I love to hear how we’re getting on and how our clients are feeling. But this one was different.

This feedback celebrated 17 years as a business partnership and reminded me of why we do what we do.

It read:

Seventeen years ago we were looking for a quality hosting company and chose UKFast and we have been working with them ever since (in this time Lawrence and Gail have had 4 daughters, Julian and Emily stopped at 3). Today we received a lovely surprise to mark our 17th anniversary. Thank you Sarah, Lawrence and Gail the rest of the UKFast crew. Here is to the next 17!

Their account manager, Sarah, had sent them a box of treats to celebrate the anniversary.

It is so amazing to think about where we’ve been, what we’ve achieved and how we’ve changed in those years. Sarah’s transformation alone is astonishing enough – from a graduate straight out of university, Sarah is an essential part of UKFast and part of the foundations of our account management team. She is a new mum too. She’s been on an incredible journey in her years with UKFast and I’m proud to have been part of it so far.

I remember when we won BarkWeb Ltd as a client. It was Julian and I who organised their first server together and it was a huge win for UKFast back then; the simple fact that such an amazing business believed in us enough to place their trust in us was an incredible boost and we reassured us that we were on the right track.

What’s just as special to me is that this client is valued today as much as back then. You can never underestimate loyalty. You never know why your paths cross or how long your journey together will be.

It is also a reminder of the importance of businesses showing faith in one another. It is all to easy to choose a huge multinational firm because you recognise the brand – that’s in all areas of our lives like coffee, books, clothing, as well as technology. But, what can the smaller, local brands offer you?

Supporting SMEs and fledging businesses is the only way that we can get them off the ground – the only way to make our economy grow. I have long been a champion of buying British and I am incredibly proud that our clients choose a hosting provider that pays taxes, that contributes to Britain and that gives back to the community.

This is something that I try to do with everything that I buy. If there is a British alternative or a startup looking for a break. I will never forget the hard work that it takes to get a business growing – the long hours, lack of money and sleepless nights. I know first-hand that your support can make all of the difference and help them to stand the test of time.

Sitting at my desk in the incredible office that we have created, it is humbling to think back to the businesses that had faith in us back in the days when we were a small team with a tiny office and little to show to prove that we could keep our promises.

It’s been well worth the struggle and I am immensely proud of the team we have built.
