“When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears” – Tony Robbins
What are you thankful for? It’s easy to get swept up in the stresses of modern life. In Britain, we cram more into each day now than we ever have. Even mobile phones have become a conduit for stress, yet there is a simple way to stop this negative emotion in its tracks before it snowballs out of control.
We can only feel one emotion a given time. Think about it; have you ever felt excited and sad in the same instance? It’s just not possible. This is the secret to diffusing unwanted emotions. The greatest way to remove life’s headaches is simply to focus on the things in life that you are grateful for.
For me, this is an incredibly humbling experience. After my avalanche accident, I feel like I have been given a second chance. Having had it squeezed from my lungs under layers of snow, I can now safely say I’m simply thankful for the air I breathe!
Life throws anomalies at us all but if you feel overwhelmed by them just sit down and take a moment to think about all the things you’re grateful for. We might have one or two things out of synch but we always have something that we can appreciate to remind us that life is good.
If you do this and you still feel stressed then go and help someone else; spend some time with a friend you haven’t made time for recently. The really important things in life are the emotions that you feel when you connect with others. That’s the real meaning of success.
