There’s no two ways about it, Sir Alex Ferguson is a tough act to follow. It was always going to be difficult for the person stepping into his shoes. He is arguably the greatest manager that’s ever lived. He’s certainly a great leader, knowing the balance between being tough – pushing his players to strive for more, and showing humility – providing them with praise and support.

Whilst I’m no football commentator, I have seen the recent backlash towards United’s new manager David Moyes. Is this the normal stage of pain that comes before success or the potential downfall of the team? It’s a fine line and I’m not sure which side of it he is on. Only time will tell, but it’s interesting to learn from other people’s style of leadership, whether that’s in sports or in business.

What do you make of Moyes as a leader? I was certainly amused to see him pictured in the news recently, walking past one of our cloud adverts!
