I came across a story today that really goes to show how valuable coding can be as a skillset, and one that we should be encouraging young people to learn.
When you think of the great artists throughout history I think it’s fair to say that you don’t automatically imagine a techie sitting at his or her computer, but that’s exactly how the picture below was created.
It started with an online challenge for programmers to create a piece of software that could generate images where each pixel would be a unique colour using the RGB (red, green, blue) colour system. If you’re wondering how many colours this gave them to play with, the answer is 16,777,216!
The winner of the competition was programmer Jozsef Fejes whose program made stunning designs, as you can see. So, if you thought technology was boring, I hope this changes your mind and shows you why people get so passionate about programming.
Creativity can take place on the computer screen as well as the canvas.
