Whilst it might surprise some of you to see me writing about fashion given my slightly ‘eccentric’ style, I have to commend British clothes manufacturer Fashion Enter for its plans to expand a training programme designed to bolster manufacturing skills in the UK.
The company already takes on apprentices to train in things like stitching and pattern cutting and I think that expanding this programme with the backing of their local council and the support of big retailers like ASOS is a welcome step forward for the UK clothes manufacturing industry.
Fashion Enter have set their sights on being able to train around 1000 people a year in relevant qualifications. Initiatives like this can help more people to find employment and bring back the Best of British mentality in the process. What other skills could we bring back to our little island?
