“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” – Winston Churchill
In life, throughout history, there have always been people willing to work hard for what they believed in, people who changed the course of history. Yet, more often than not, they didn’t work alone. Whether it was a friend, a spouse or a whole team of people, many of the well-known figures we admire had support in one way or another. So whilst one person can make a colossal difference, they can often achieve a lot more when they are surrounded by great people.
This time last year, the local community showed the kindness in their natures by helping out a family who had gone through something terrible. Despite the fact that many places had shut up shop, small businesses and individual volunteers still sacrificed time and supplies to help. For every one of these people – and for everyone who has shown humanity and empathy to someone else this year – I applaud you.
I truly believe in Churchill’s words; we make a life by what we give. In return we receive the best memories, to cherish for a lifetime.
