“People who succeed have momentum. The more they succeed, the more they want to succeed, and the more they find a way to succeed. Similarly, when someone is failing, the tendency is to get on a downward spiral that can even become a self-fulfilling prophecy” – Tony Robbins
Have you ever had one of those days where everything seems to be falling into place? On the way to work, every set of traffic lights flashes green, and by lunchtime you’ve hit your targets and hit the treadmill!
Whilst it might feel like these things are happening to you, the truth of the matter is this: they are a result of your mindset and the momentum created by your positivity. We’ve all had days when things seem to go wrong from the moment you wake up, but when you step back and reflect, it often starts to become clearer. Let’s say the first negative thing that happened to you was simply an accident, maybe you knocked over your cup of coffee. What’s important is how you reacted. What thoughts entered your head?
When we start believing that it’s ‘just our luck’ or ‘it’s one of those days’ we set off a chain of events. It’s the same when we’re feeling great. We’re more productive and the more we achieve, the better we feel.
As Tony Robbins points out, we can build momentum in either direction, positive or negative. But the more it builds, the faster it becomes, so it’s worth taking a moment each morning and deciding how you want that day to go. How can you get the most out of every second and make yourself and those around you feel good along the way?
