One of the single most important driving forces at UKFast is getting as close to the source as possible, always striving to own and operate the primary source of everything we do.
I was reminded of this recently whilst discussing the early years of UKFast, when our entire business was hosted in other people’s data centres. It was definitely a learning experience, teaching us that when it came to our customers, we didn’t want to compromise on service.
Relying on another organisation’s facility meant we couldn’t control the class of the data centre or the style of management, and when the price suddenly tripled we decided it was time to start a new chapter and build our own DCs.
It’s been the same with UKFast Campus – owning our own building means we can create this fantastic environment for people without restriction. But the real benefit, especially when it comes to our clients, is that we can take complete responsibility.
When you think about it, our aim – ultimately – is to support our customers and help grow their businesses. So, if somebody calls up with a question or concern, there’s no middle man. The buck stops with us, and it’s our job to make sure they are happy.
It reminds me of the saying “accountability breeds response-ability”. When you hold yourself accountable, and have the tools you need at your fingertips, it empowers you to step up and take on any challenge thrown your way.
