In the world we live in, almost everyone has to contend with a multitude of different responsibilities. Whether it’s managing a business, looking after your kids, keeping fit or all of the above, life can become a bit chaotic without one key ingredient: scheduling.
When things are running smoothly, more often than not it’s down to having a schedule. So, for me and Gail, Tuesday and Friday nights are date night. On Tuesdays we also review the week and do our goal-setting, so you might see us sitting in a restaurant in Hale with calculators and pens and paper everywhere; sad, I know!
Then at the weekends, I’m in full dad mode. So we get outside and spend time with the girls, whether it’s going swimming or just heading out into the countryside for some fresh air.
This isn’t to say that life always goes to plan, as we all drop the ball sometimes. However, with a schedule in place, you create a structure to work around and build on, something to help you stay on top of things. Stuffing as many occasions into your life as you can is so important.
As a wise person once told me: “Live every day as if it’s your last, because one day you’ll be right.”
