To put it simply, you cannot inspire others unless you are inspired yourself.
As I sit here, coming towards the end of my time on Necker Island, I am feeling more inspired than ever. Watching my youngest, Coco, running around dressed as a pumpkin and all ready for Halloween, and with some of the UKFast management team heading out here to join us, I am ready for whatever the next stage of the UKFast journey holds.
How do you get inspired if you can’t head over to paradise, I hear you ask! Whilst now we are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel to these incredible locations, that has not always been the case. In the early days, I found my inspiration in the Welsh mountains, and often still do.
Getting out, getting away from the city, from computers and smartphones; heading to the hills!
It could simply be taking some time at home to be with your family. Wherever you find your sanctuary, it is this time, away from the world and the chaos of the day to day, that we find our inspiration. And, invariably, it is when we are surrounded by those we love.
Children are the most inspirational little beings! When you’re a child you dream big. You want to be an astronaut with three swimming pools and 10 ponies or have a house as big as a castle with a boat and helicopter in the garden. At some point, as we grow up, we lose this and it is such a shame. We place limits on ourselves that we don’t need.
I find time with my daughters equally fascinating as it is wonderful. For me, gaining an insight into how they think and the goals they set is the most inspirational thing in the world.
So as we head into the weekend, and I look to the end of my trip away from Manchester and the UK, I plan to make the most of this time and ask, how will you make the most of your weekend?
You never know what is around the next corner and time out like this is when we prepare for life’s challenges, we become inspired ourselves, and we refill our resources to enable us to inspire others and help them to grow.
How will you be inspired this weekend? I’d love to hear your stories.
