How do you get back into the swing of things after a holiday?

We got back into the UK yesterday after a fantastic trip to BVI. I came straight back into the office to catch up with the team and speak at an event. Straight back into the deep end!

Today, however, it’s time to get back into the routine. I believe that time is our most precious asset and we should manage it carefully. Whilst we never know what is over the next hill, if we control our schedule day to day, it is easier to get back into the routine when it has been disrupted.

It ensures that we keep our spare time available for the things that are the most precious – the time with our families, with our children, husbands and wives. It is too easy to fall into the trap of spending all of your time working or trying to solve a problem. Having these scheduled breaks, workouts or dates guarantee that you still enjoy the important parts of life.

It is something that I am learning to get better at every day.

I schedule as much of my week as I can. We have date night twice a week, squash twice a week and our meetings at UKFast are set in stone. This formula makes it significantly easier to slip back into the swing of things after a trip or time elsewhere.

I love returning from Necker. It is such a beautiful place, it is hard not to come back motivated and inspired. I am full of energy and raring to go! That’s why planning time is so important – how easy would it be to focus on those things that inspire me? To spend every minute working on the ideas that were inspired on holiday whilst other things fall by the wayside?

It is a balance that we have to strike and I would love to know how you do it.
