Are you singing along to Silent Night or just hoping the Christmas songs would stop and it would actually be a silent night?
It’s fascinating to see people’s responses to the festive build up as we head into December. Last week, a friend of mine launched #KickstartChristmas, a light-hearted attempt to bring some joy to our everyday considering the amount of terrible events in the news.
He tweeted: “In just one month it will be Christmas. The news everywhere is grim so today I’m wishing everyone I know a happy Christmas #KickstartChristmas.”
What a fantastic idea!
We’ve certainly kickstarted Christmas here at UKFast Campus! That day, our tree was lit up, high on the roof, welcoming Manchester’s Parkway traffic into the city with a bit of a festive glow.
This week we’re prepping for the weekend’s Christmas Party, which includes awards for the team and our annual £1,000 and £10,000 five-year and ten-year club cheque presentations. We’re transforming the office into a Winter Wonderland and yesterday morning I set the whole team a challenge.
With a budget per pod and a prize on the line, each department is tasked with creating the most festive desk possible. So far, we’ve got hundreds of fairy lights, screens showing fireplaces, Christmas trees and home-made snowflakes everywhere! I’ve even heard a few Christmas songs being played. It is incredible!
It has transformed the atmosphere. We’re always high energy here, but this time of year is different, isn’t it. It is too easy to get caught up in the ‘bah humbug’ spirit and be beaten by the cold, wet weather. Instead, it is so much more fun to embrace the spirit of everything!
I’d love to see photos of how you’re getting into the spirit, tweet them @Lawrence_Jones or share in the comments.
