7 December 2015
One of the greatest things about UKFast is the people. I say this a lot but this morning – through the dark, cold and rain – they arrived. Bleary-eyed and half asleep in some cases, but here nonetheless.
We had our Christmas party here at UKFast Campus over the weekend and as you can imagine, the clean-up was a big job. So, when we asked if anyone could come in a little early this morning to help with the final bits of tidying, it was incredible to see just how many people volunteered.
Armed with sweeping brushes, cloths and mops, the team got the office looking back to its usual standard in no time.
What struck a chord with me most was the atmosphere. While many people are grumbling about a 9am start, the team were here hours early laughing, smiling and joking. It was a simple moment in the grand scheme of things but in that instant, looking around at the incredible space as it turned back into the office we’re used to seeing, I couldn’t help but feel extraordinarily proud of the team and how far we have come together.
All those years ago when Gail and I created UKFast, I don’t think we’d dare dream of being in a position where we’d have this unique office campus, a team of more than 200 people and an exclusive hotel with a team who we could fly over to our onsite auditorium for the biggest Christmas party we’ve ever had.
We’re by no means at the end of our journey yet. We’re at the beginning of an extremely exciting stage in UKFast’s history and I couldn’t have been prouder to end 2015 and look ahead into the New Year than I was in that moment, surrounded by bags of rubbish, deflated balloons and our incredible UKFast Family.
I cannot wait to meet everyone’s nearest and dearest to continue the festive celebrations at our annual Friends and Family event this weekend.
I said it at the party and I said it in my blog yesterday, but I don’t think you can ever say it enough. Thank you to the team. UKFast is an extraordinary place and it is all thanks to you.
