Just a short post today, as I am sure you’re all far too busy getting ready for the festivities tomorrow to be reading anything too in-depth!on the phone

It is worth remembering that whilst many of us want to be out of the door and ready to start the Christmas fun as soon as possible, for some people and businesses it is still ‘business as usual’.

Several years ago I was having the conversation with my team on Christmas Eve about who was the best salesperson that year, they believed that the result was done and dusted, so why not release the result now? But, I refused until the end of the day.

Less than an hour later, the phone rang and it was a gentleman that one of my team had been having an ongoing conversation about them potentially becoming a client. Sure enough, he signed the contract and is still one of our customers today.

Signing that order form on Christmas Eve tipped the scales, closing the gap between the front runners and meant that the leaderboard changed and we had a new winner.

Whilst everyone had given up on achieving anything else that year, other businesses were carrying on as usual. Granted there is a little bit of luck at play there, but I like to think of it a little like the tortoise and the hare fable.

Yes, it is important to take time out – especially at this time of year – but don’t give up too soon because you think the race is already over! Keep trying and you never know what you will achieve.
