“A holiday is not a place to switch off, it’s a place to contemplate, engage and prepare.”
I posted this quote some time ago but it couldn’t be truer this week.
Spending Valentine’s Day with my wife, the children and their grandparents, there certainly wasn’t a lot of time to contemplate much. But, in those times when everyone is off getting ready for dinner or having an afternoon nap, those are the times to really prepare.
There is no better setting in the world to take the time to take stock than the Maldives. We come here each year to set our goals, to celebrate our anniversary and to prepare for the next stage of our journey.
You never know what is over the next hill or around the next corner but I have learned that to generate the momentum to be ready for what lies ahead, you have to slow down, step back and look at things from a slower pace.
It is all too easy to become swept up in the buzz of everyday life within a business. A holiday gives you that essential opportunity to remove yourself from the hubbub and see your business for what it really is.
I often share the quote that the time to take time out is when you don’t have time for it. It is one of the truest quotes there is!
When did you last take time out? How do you spend your holiday?
I would love to hear your thoughts.
