What inspires you?
One of my greatest inspirations comes from sport. I am a firm believer that the lessons we learn on the pitch, on the squash court and on the track are lessons that stand the test of time. Competitiveness, teamwork, resilience, tenacity, supportiveness; the list is endless.
When you’re running for a try, if you’re stopped in your tracks do you give up, leave the field? No! You keep going until you score.
If you lose against your rival, do you concede defeat and give up? No! You set the goal to beat them.
My time as a rugby player has taught me some of the most important values that affect my professional life every day. The main value: resilience. I have a thick skin and once I set a goal, there’s no stopping me from reaching it!
Perhaps that’s why UKFast is growing the way that it is, because there’s a common theme throughout the team. We’re passionate about sport and exercise. We’re goal setters and there’s undeniably a competitive gene in every person in Team UKFast.
This week I am delighted to welcome England rugby legend and all-time leading try scorer, Mark Cueto and squash world champion Laura Massaro to UKFast Campus. The two sportstars will be leading our latest Inspire MCR event.
The past two Inspire MCR events have been incredibly successful and I’ve been humbled by the feedback we’ve received from the business people in the room. The events are designed to inspire entrepreneurs and businesses to take them to the next level; for people who’ve been in their shoes to share the lessons they’ve learned along the way, and for those at the top of their games to share their top tips and journey to the top. Collaboration is essential in life – it’s how we learn and grow.
This InspireMCR event, on Wednesday 23rd, focusses on the lessons we can learn from sport. How can values gained on the pitch be transferred into the boardroom?
I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and hearing from two of our country’s greatest sporting stars. If you want to come along, there are limited spaces available via the InspireMCR website.
I look forward to seeing you there. In the meantime, I’d love to hear about your biggest inspirations.
