Have you seen the fog in London? Air pollution in our country’s capital has hit record highs, exceeding the annual air pollution target for the year in just five days.
The levels are so bad that the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has recommended limiting strenuous physical activity even for people who are fit and healthy. This is hugely concerning!
So what can you do?
Perhaps this is a signal that we need a change in behaviour. We have so many tools at our fingertips that enable us to work out of the office, could now be the time for more people to take advantage of desktop as a service (DaaS) solutions like UKFast’s FASTdesk, which would limit the amount of people commuting. It would also mean that employees can stay out of the most polluted zones and take advantage of some fresh air.
The internet has revolutionised the way that we do business and I think this next year we will see that effect increase even more so, driving a change away from having to work in the capital five days a week.
I am a big believer in creating extraordinary workplaces that foster camaraderie and a strong company culture that encourage collaboration and teamwork, but is this plausible every day in a city that is fast becoming oversaturated?
Maybe the answer is to split the working week between London offices and working from home? This would reduce the daily influx of people into these polluted central areas while maintaining that essential collaboration.
What do you think?
