This week is Random Acts of Kindness Week and it has got me thinking. Giving back is an essential part of business. I am forever grateful to the Manchester business community for taking me in when I first moved here to begin my career, and now I am lucky to be in a position where I can give back.
That’s one of the reasons I decided to create a cutting-edge events space for businesses and charities to use for free. We’re heavily involved in charity campaigns across the region too.
But, the main part of giving back – especially when it comes to random acts of kindness – should be your team.
One of the simplest ways is positive feedback. People thrive under praise and wither under criticism. It is extraordinary just how much of an impact positive feedback can have. Whilst it should undoubtedly become a natural habit to share positive feedback, this week seems like a great time to start nurturing that habit. Flip the conversation.
Or, it can be big gestures to thank the team for their continued hard work and dedication. Last summer we surprised the team with a weekend-long music festival for the whole team, their friends and family. It was an extraordinary weekend and the best way I could imagine to say thank you. You can watch the highlights below!
Ultimately your team are your greatest asset and should be thanked for their commitment to growing the business.
Whatever you decide to do this week, take the time to think about what random acts of kindness you could do to give back to the people around you.
