Wow. To be in the Sunday Times Best Company to Work For is a tremendous honour, to be named the number one workplace in Manchester and the fifth best workplace in the country is absolutely incredible.
Travelling home from our family holiday last night, I got the news from the UKFast team – we were fifth! Our previous best position has been 25 and last year we were 32nd in the Small Companies list, so to climb to number five in the whole of the UK is a fabulous achievement for the whole team at UKFast.
Our culture at UKFast is unique and what makes it so special is that it is created by the team themselves, taking ownership by setting up running clubs, netball, and football clubs. It’s a place where people work out doing gym classes together run by fellow colleagues; an environment where all the departments interact and value each other.
You can see this in the numbers – 90% of our team say that the team care for one another, 91% believe we go out of our way to help each other.
It’s, of course, work in progress too and I believe there is a lot we can learn to continue to build and improve every aspect of the business and these awards help us to do just that. The Best Companies accreditation is more than just another award. The company provides invaluable data which helps us identify what we are doing well and where we need to improve. I have no doubt Jonathan Austin’s company Best Companies is a catalyst in helping us improve and achieve great things.
We’ve been featured in the list for six years and every year we’ve learned something new about the team and how to improve our business. It’s amazing to see year on year, how we’re improving and developing.
I hope more business owners follow suit and realise a happy workforce creates a strong, profitable company and a happy team provides better customer service. That’s why we work so hard to ensure our team works in a world-class and award-winning work environment that rivals the likes of Google.
If there are any sceptics out there our results speak volumes, we have an industry-leading Net Promoter Score, more than 40 times the sector average and we are continuing to grow as a profitable company.
The most amazing thing to read this morning was that 90% of our team said that they are proud to work for UKFast – that’s the fourth highest score in the UK. As entrepreneurs, we take on a huge responsibility to look after our teams, to create a brand that people believe in and are proud to work for.
It’s incredible to hear these results and I am immensely proud of everyone in the UKFast team. Thank you for the hard work and dedication that you put in.
