mirror carEntrepreneurs are often asked ‘if you could go back in time, what’s the one thing you would change?’ It seems to be one of the favourite questions at business events!

But it’s not a great one! I am all for learning from mistakes but ultimately, I am a person who looks forward and not backwards.

They say ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ and no one has killed me yet!

Whilst it is essential to learn from your errors and misfortunes, how can you plan your future and prepare for what’s to come if you’re fixated on the view from the rear-view mirror rather than the windscreen? I don’t believe I would be the same person if I had not made the mistakes I have already made. And honestly, I am quite happy with where I am!

It is all too easy to become focussed on the past, on where you went wrong or right, and on ‘how it could have been’, but that’s not healthy. That energy is so much better invested in focussing on your future, on where you want to go and who you want to be.

As long as you don’t create a system of problems along the journey, one’s that could break you or your business, and you remain humble and you keep listening; I don’t think there should be any mistake you should regret too much.

It’s better to keep being positive; life is all about focus. Choose where you focus your energy going forward.
