Alongside our Wood St Mission Christmas campaign, we’re transforming our auditorium into a Christmas cinema experience. For many families, making ends meet is hard enough at this time of year and a trip to the cinema is expensive these days. So to give children the opportunity to have a little extra festive cheer, we’re showing Christmas favourite Elf in our auditorium.
The events space here at UKFast Campus has a 100 sq ft screen, theatre-style surround sound and specially designed luxury seating. However, we don’t fill the space every single day so it makes perfect sense for us to share it with the community. What better way to do that than by celebrating the joy of Christmas with local children?
So on 13th December from 1pm, we’re opening the doors, getting the popcorn ready and welcoming school groups, charity projects and families who are having a tough time to join Buddy the Elf and our Christmas helpers here at UKFast Campus.
During the summer months we welcomed more than 1,500 children to four cinema screenings. These included Moana, The Greatest Showman, Avengers: Infinity War and an autism-friendly screening of Finding Nemo.
It was wonderful to welcome so many children and families to enjoy the films and make memories together.
Standing to the side of our auditorium, watching hundreds of children and their families bursting into song as The Greatest Showman began was a really special moment for Gail and I this summer. Many of those children are living in poverty or have life-limiting or life-ending conditions. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to share the facilities we have here to help families make those special memories that money can’t buy.
That’s exactly what is so magical about this time of year, so I am excited to be able to open up our facilities to make more memories together and just have some fun. We’ve already had a phenomenal response from local school groups and charities – I’ve no doubt that the event will quickly become fully booked. With that in mind, if you’d like to find out more and register your interest, visit our dedicated webpage.
I look forward to seeing you there!Back to Blog
