UKFast Campus office - motivation, productivity, workReturning to your desk after the Christmas break can be a daunting prospect but it needn’t be! There are a few simple steps that you can take to enjoy getting back into the swing of things, and hit the ground running in 2019.

Share your tips in the comments below.

Prioritise

There is undoubtedly a huge to-do list waiting for you on your return. Instead of dreading tackling the entire beast, choose five priorities that you’re confident you can complete that day.
If you’re able to do more, great! Plot out your week based on the priorities that you need to complete and when. This will take them off your mind so that you can concentrate on the tasks that need to be completed.

Email

Don’t fall into the email black hole! Schedule some time to run through your inbox. Add tasks to your to-do list as you go. Remember you don’t need to action every single request as it lands into your inbox. List the priorities and add them into your working day.

Sleep, eat

The Christmas season is incredibly disruptive when it comes to our usual routines. Make sure that when you return to work you remember the basics. Eat a good breakfast and lunch to maintain your energy during the day. Make sure that you get enough sleep at night and get back into your usual exercise routine.

Everyone has their own magic formula to stay at their best, make sure you get straight back to it once the festive season is over.

Take a break

Whilst you may feel like there’s no time for it, make sure you take a break. Did you know that the human brain can only focus on a concentrated task for less than 15 minutes?

Changing your scenery, going for a walk or just taking a moment to make a hot drink and switch off is absolutely essential and the perfect way to keep your energy up throughout the day.
