There have been a few defining moments throughout the almost 20 years of building UKFast, following which, at each stage, we’ve pressed on and gone from strength to strength.
Yesterday was one such milestone.
We were visited at UKFast Campus by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne. A royal reminder of how far we have come and of the importance of the direction we choose to take for the future.
Princess Anne seemed genuinely impressed by the energy in the building and by everyone at UKFast Campus. She took a great interest in the Code Clubs that we were running and in asking our apprentices about their own journeys here at UKFast.
The visit came off the back of the honour of winning a Princess Royal Training Award last year. This award recognised our focus on creating an apprenticeship that builds extraordinary adults, not just well-skilled adults. It is also a nod to our drive to build technical skills not just within the business but in the broader community too.
That’s why Gail took the initiative to invite our school and education partners along to the event to share in the celebration. We were joined by around thirty educational leaders, along with their digital champion pupils who took part in two special Code Club sessions throughout the morning.
An amazing team
Hearing the energy in the room and the feedback that we received about the day, about our team and about the business in general, proved quite overwhelming. I believe that we are defined by how we make people feel, and yesterday it was clear that the Royal visit – and extending that invitation to so many beyond UKFast’s walls – was by far the right decision.
We were also joined by the incredible team at City and Guilds who lead the Princess Royal Training Awards and with whom we work on our apprenticeship and training qualifications.
I have to say a huge thank you to the whole team at UKFast and UKFast Space for the effort they’ve put in over the past few weeks to get everything in place for the visit. There’s nothing like a Royal visit to make you tackle that snagging list of odd jobs that need doing! The campus looked immaculate. I can’t thank you all enough for the effort put into making the event a success.
The work we are doing in education is inspirational. The team here have worked for more than a decade to build these relationships and help shape the technical education that our young people receive today. I couldn’t be prouder of them all.
The feedback I received whilst showing the Princess around was inspiring to hear. And none of this would be possible without each and every one of you.
You can’t build an amazing company with an amazing team, and Team UKFast is definitely that!
